Mechanical Design

IVD Inc. provides design of various types of HVAC systems to meet your project requirements. We are expereinced with hot water and steam boilers, direct fired heating and all types of heat pumps; as well as, chilled water, geothermal and direct espansion (DX) cooling. Our projects have utilized constant volume air handling, variable air volume (VAV) air handling, humidification, dehumidification, variable refirigerant flow (VRF), in-floor radiant heat, and infra-red heat. We have worked with natural gas, propane (LP) gas, and fuel oil heat sources. IVD will design the appropriate automatic temperature control (ATC) system for the type of equipment in your building and the level of expertise available for maintenance and operation. We have extensive experience in duct design and air distribution, ventilation systems, and energy recovery systems. Additionally, we can provide more than twenty-five years of expertise in pneumatic, electronic, and DDC building automation as well as integrated security and life safety systems.

Electrical Design

Power: IVD provides a complete complement of electrical design services for each project. We design new electrical services based on the immediate requirements of the building and any plans for future growth. In addition, IVD is also capable of designing emergency power and distribution systems when required, including emergency generators, battery systems, and UPS systems.

Lighting: IVD strives to provide energy efficient lighting design for the building interior to accent the space design and special architectural features, as well as emergency and exit lighting and exterior/site lighting design. We can also evaluate existing lighting by reading foot-candle levels to determine deficiencies.

Systems: In tandem with power and lighting, IVD designs electrical systems necessary for a fully functioning building. Electrical systems include fire/smoke alarm, security, sound, nurse call, and CATV.

Plumbing Design

IVD's extensive plumbing design experience includes domestic water, water heating, sanitary drainage and venting, roof drainage, natural gas piping, compressed air, medical gases, and grease/oil interceptors. We have designed complete plumbing systems for commercial kitchens using both natural and propane gas and we are also capable of providing design of domestic water systems for both public and private water sources, including on-site wells.

Project Commissioning

On a typical commissioning job, IVD works directly for the owner, representing their best interests. Our job is to make sure that the systems you contracted for are installed correctly, are accessible for maintenance and repair, and are functioning as designed when the project is turned over. Executed correctly, this process can save you a substantial amount of time and money that could be lost due to oversights and conflicts or mistakes in the construction process. Considering that the value of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems can equal forty percent or more of the value of the overall construction budget, these systems are worthy of careful follow-up. Our approach to the process is very detailed and methodical and is conducted with a thorough understanding of the equipment and systems to be commissioned. It is our preference to get involved in the project as early as possible.

Building Condition Assessment and Code Review

IVD has extensive experience in Building Condition Assessments of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.  Our assessment projects include written reports with description of existing conditions, listing of safety concerns, listing of code violations, and recommendations to resolve safety concerns and code violations.

We also can tailor our report to recommend system modifications as required by proposed renovations and /or additions to a facility.
